Home Sweet Home
Gee but it's great to be back home
Home is where I want to be.
I've been on the road so long my friend,
And if you came along
I know you couldn't disagree.
It's the same old story
Everywhere I go,
I get slandered,
Libeled,
I hear words I never heard
In the bible
And I'm on step ahead of the shoe shine
Two steps away from the county line
Just trying to keep my customers satisfied,
Satisfied. ~ Paul Simon
Welcome back, everyone! I have an entry brewing for our homecoming!

Loretta, it's good to be home again!

YeHaw!
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 06:23 PM
Well, Nadine, I guess it's up to us to get the champagne chilling and the h'ors d'ouvres ready!
Posted by: Lisa | September 1, 2006 06:25 PM
If you don't want your email address swiped by someone, use a bogus one. The software doesn't care.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 06:26 PM
I'll make the Jell-0 shots.
Virgins for Stacey!
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 06:27 PM
Actually, unless you have a blog or URL in the URL box, your email does not show up. Good! Ok, nebber mind.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 06:27 PM
I use my hotmail email -- spam folder gets deleted automatically anyway.

Welcome back, Misfits! How wonderful is this?
Yes, Lisa. Blog away after Saturday!
Posted by: Monica | September 1, 2006 06:29 PM
I'm cooking spring roll filling, so running back and forth.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 06:29 PM
I can't stay because I'm going to the football game but I just wanted to say that it's nice to see the old, familiar name again. (I'm glad I kept my email address!)
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 06:29 PM
I knew Misfitting would be back. How great is that?
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 06:31 PM
Yes, now you can put me back on your blogroll -- Vero, et al!
Lisa never took me off. Maybe Stacey didn't either. She'll know.

Oh, now this is so cool!

Judge orders help for Brooke Astor
Son won’t get salary; ‘guardian’ established for 104-year-old
Astor’s grandson claimed that his grandmother was being forced to eat “oatmeal and puréed carrots, puréed oats and puréed liver, Monday through Friday, for months on end.”
The judge also ordered that Astor be allowed to regularly see her two dogs, Boysie and Girlsie. According to Astor’s grandson, she has not seen her beloved dogs for months.

I was kind of stubborn like that.
Posted by: Lisa | September 1, 2006 06:39 PM
Yes, you're stubborn, Lisa. You've got chutzpah!
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 06:40 PM
I think it's a Misfit trait.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 06:40 PM
I believe that Astor guy is mentioned in the book Lisa recommended, "That Crazy Thing Called Love," featuring a whole host of Who's Who in eastern society.
That reminds me, I have to send Moi that book.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 06:41 PM
That was an excellent book. I hope Moi enjoys it.
Posted by: Lisa | September 1, 2006 07:02 PM
Hurrah! There's no place like home!
Posted by: Robin | September 1, 2006 07:09 PM
The little boy across the street and Nathan are like best buddies, now. They have been riding bikes, playing soccer, running in and out of the house, up and down the stairs, into the playroom, down outside the garage...Zooom!
I'm getting dizzy keeping track. You can hear their voices echo across the street as they play soccer in the field outside. It's so cute.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 07:12 PM
That should help him get to sleep at night!
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 07:16 PM
The only time he's "mr. insomniac" anymore is on the weekends, especially when he's the only kid home.
Tonight he'll sleep for sure! He's starting soccer next week, so that should wear him out.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 07:19 PM
Ta-Daa!
Did I see that you're serving Jell-o shots, Nadine?!
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 07:20 PM
Jelling as we speak, Doe Eyes.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 07:36 PM
Hmmm, I having trouble on this end. I'll see if this works.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 07:38 PM
BTW, just so you know, nobody over there >>> has figured out that we're back yet. I won't be archiving just yet.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 07:40 PM
Doe sent me some fresh roasted coffee that she roasted herself.
I haven't had a chance to drink any yet (can't wait for morning!) but just the smell of the bag was intoxicating. It was so rich.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 07:41 PM
I fear she may ruin me for the "stale" stuff from now on.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 07:41 PM
WooHoo! Just got home, and what did I find?
Misfits!!
I feel better already!
I took down the link because it just made me feel bad to click on it and have there be nothing there.
If I put it back, the mutts will find it as soon as...wait a minute. How about I put the link, but call it something else? Mama's Coffee, or some such?
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 07:48 PM
I hope you enjoy it. It's my secret blend. HA! At first, I just did one flavor and then I got brave and started blending different beans. I had some bad blends before I figured it out.
Four different beans, some roasted medium and some roasted dark. It's a rather complex flavor. I hope you have a chance to sit out on the patio, by the lake, and take it all in.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 07:48 PM
I get whole beans, but they're already roasted.
I'm turning green with envy! I love the smell of fresh coffee beans.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 07:49 PM
It has an amazing (ding) smell, Nadine. So heady it's almost like a wine bouquet.
Oh, Vero, we're hiding in plain site, so don't worry about the link. No point in having it up if you are going to conceal it behind a different name! Leave it off for awhile. I was just messin' wif ya.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 07:52 PM
All right. I'll put it up as Misfits.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 07:56 PM
BTW, what's this latest garbage from the mutts about you? Some fruitcake called "Just Sayin" invited me to put up a paypal button for you.
I just deleted. I'm going to go post the info.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 08:02 PM
Long time, no see.
Welcome back.
Is the blue color scheme for the lake?
Posted by: peggy | September 1, 2006 08:04 PM
Ignore them. I'm not going to discuss them. They do not exist, remember?
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:07 PM
The blog design is being reconstructed this weekend. By Monday or Tuesday, we should have our Rose Motif back and some extra bells & whistles.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:09 PM
Peggy, there have been a few days when the lake looked pretty darn blue. Most days it's gray. These past few windy days it has resembled the Atlantic Ocean.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:11 PM
WTH?
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 08:12 PM
Vero, my comment there about the rumor mill was after the stupid post.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 08:13 PM
Ignore is good. Nebbermind.
What kind of extra bells & whistles?
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 08:14 PM
For one thing, I hope to be able to upload some excerpts of music so I can continue doing the composer series and other musical interludes!
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:15 PM
I have in my hot little hands a red, white and blue package with "PRIORITY" stamped on it. Yay!
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 08:15 PM
I'm off to cook. Back later!
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 08:18 PM
That would be great! I really enjoyed those.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 08:19 PM
Whew! I was holding my breath Nadine!
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 08:21 PM
Can't wait to see what you do Nadine.
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 08:21 PM
I deleted the comment, and they came back with another. That's gone, too. No biggie!
Have fun with TDSS, Nadine!
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 08:22 PM
I can't wait either. I'm sure it will be good.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 08:28 PM
Hey, we can change the color scheme with the push of a button.
Sweeeeet.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:29 PM
~blink~
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 08:33 PM
Holy cow, I refreshed and thought I needed to go find my glasses.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 08:36 PM
A summer of sunlight and sweat
Can never make us forget
The fun to be had
At the Misfitting pad--
It's September; we're back on the set!
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 08:36 PM
Yowza!
Good evening, folks.
Off to catch up.
Posted by: Valarie | September 1, 2006 08:37 PM
Will the new site be monitored?
Posted by: Robin | September 1, 2006 08:38 PM
How do we change it?
I hit refresh and everything changed! I like it.
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 08:40 PM
It looks like a bee hive.
I'm fooling around over here in the plug-ins. Yes, it has plug-ins. Little things that do a lot.
Robin, I can poof and ban like the old days. I get the comments in my email, so I don't have to be in here to do it.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:45 PM
Loretta, I'm really glad you've decided to bring Misfits back. It was missed.
May you do even bigger and better things with this reopening.
Posted by: Valarie | September 1, 2006 08:45 PM
Speaking of new looks, I'm getting my hair cut next week. I think I'll have a few really blonde streaks put in, too.
I just might get it cut short....heck, it only took me about 2 years to grow it long!
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:49 PM
I hate to inject a depressing note, but Vanessa just called me, and her friend Heather has an 11-year-old daughter called Jasmine. Jasmine has just been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, and V is asking for healing thoughts and prayers for Heather and Jasmine.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 08:51 PM
Still MIA from the move: my printer cable and power cord. I can swap out the power cord from another peripheral, but I can't find that USB cable.
Otherwise, I think I have a handle on where everything is. Bonus point: I found a bag of clothes I had been saving from a friend who has twin boys. The clothes were a size 6 and Nboy was too small for them until now.
I'm set for months, now!
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:52 PM
I love the dark teal of the blog header. Yummy!
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 08:52 PM
I'll have to go look that up, Vero. I don't even know what that disease is.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:53 PM
Vero, prayers going out for Heather and Jasmine.
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 08:53 PM
Prayers here, Vero.
Posted by: Valarie | September 1, 2006 08:54 PM
Here's a site that explains it. The prognosis is optimistic. I hope that they caught it early.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 08:56 PM
Healing thoughts and prayers headed their way, Vero.
Posted by: Lisa | September 1, 2006 08:56 PM
Isn't it ironic that Ernesto is hitting the east coast and John is hitting Mexico?
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 09:02 PM
Vanessa is a basket case over this. She hasn't said, but I know she's thinking of her own baby. She can't even get Heather to eat, though I suspect she will tomorrow. I told her to get on the net and do some research. Twill keep her busy and get her informed as well.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 09:13 PM
The philosophy of this site is the Retzilian Agenda, of course:
1. Make friends
2. Have fun
3. Learn something
Also, take no crapola from anyone.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 09:15 PM
My crapola quotient is almost nonexistant, thought I did get a compliment from a cast member who knows me well, because I refrained from ripping an actress's head of and spitting down her neck.
I was SO tempted.
But I was nice.
Make friends ~evil grin~
Have fun ~another evil grin~
Learn something ~the grin gets bigger~
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 09:19 PM
Positive thoughts and prayers, Vero.
The guys are here to bid a concrete job. I'll catch up in a little bit.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 09:20 PM
Thank you all for your prayers and such.
I'd be on the floor, chewing a corner of the carpet if it were my child.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 09:20 PM
BTW, it is the 38th birthday of the son I placed for adoption. On some years, I actually forget. Then I feel bad.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 09:21 PM
That's a tough anniversary, Vero. I understand.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 09:25 PM
It was a different era, Vero.
You were told to put it out of your mind, like it never happened.
I'd give you a hug if I could.
How is V's work situation?
Posted by: Lisa | September 1, 2006 09:29 PM
Misfit Survey:
My co-worker and friend Andrew's 30th birthday is Sept. 11. He says it's very strange now for him and he doesn't want to celebrate. We had a pizza party at work for mine and I'd like to do something for his, low-key as well.
Would it be weird if I made some chili and we just all had lunch together again?
Isn't Becky's birthday Sept. 11 as well? That, my friends, would really suck on so many levels.
Posted by: Lisa | September 1, 2006 09:33 PM
Incoming photo from an exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art!
Click on that photo to enlarge. Yours truly's house is in that picture!
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 09:44 PM
Chili sounds entirely a propos, Lisa. In fact, that's exactly the right thing, IMO. There is something earthy, grounded, and yet forward-looking about homemade chili.
I love the pic!
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 09:48 PM
I see your house!
Lisa, that's a tough one but I think he should not give up his birthday!
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 09:49 PM
I second the chili lunch. Cornbread would be good, too.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 09:49 PM
I kept hoping and Yay, you're back!
Posted by: Kneasles | September 1, 2006 09:56 PM
Welcome back, Kneasles. Good to see you.
I'm still working on a new homecoming entry. I have to do it tomorrow when I'm fresh, but I'll finish it.
Posted by: loretta | September 1, 2006 10:03 PM
Hi, Kneasles! Do you pronounce the "K?"
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 10:16 PM
Can't wait to read it Loretta.
Posted by: CountryGal | September 1, 2006 10:17 PM
Kneasles, I always think of you after I wear my one and only pair of sweatpants!
I had trouble getting in earlier so I just quit my browser and started again. Did anyone else have trouble?
Posted by: Robin | September 1, 2006 10:42 PM
The link Loretta sent wouldn't work for me. I had to use the one posted on another blog.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 10:47 PM
I had trouble Robin.
This is so off topic, but may I vent? Good.
When you ask someone to come and bid a job a certain way, should that not be the way it's done? Instead of them trying to talk you into the way they want to do it? Hello. There is no way in h@ll I'm going to have them wheelborrow the amount of concrete we need over my lawn. No way. I asked them to bid it using a pumper truck. The neighbors across the street want the same thing done. Two jobs in one stop. Don't even try to talk me into something I didn't request. Nuff said.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 10:55 PM
Yahoo! It's good to be home. May I take my shoes off now?
Posted by: Vix | September 1, 2006 11:00 PM
Floor's clean. I don't see why not, Vix!
Doe, You really don't want a wheelbarrow job. That's for little things, like fence posts. But, you know that. Tell the guy to git before you put the barrow where he doesn't want it. Tell him he's losing another job, as well.
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 11:11 PM
Vix, it's TGIF. of course!
Posted by: Robin | September 1, 2006 11:12 PM
I'm back from the game. We won this time.
It rained almost the entire game. It wasn't a real rain. It was like a steady mist and at times small drops. I had an umbrella so I stayed dry.
I think I should be up for some kind of "wife of the year" award or something.
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 11:15 PM
Well, at least you're not a sports wife widow, since you go to the games.
Posted by: Robin | September 1, 2006 11:18 PM
So do I, Barbara! Geez! I'll send you a blankie!
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 11:19 PM
Exactly Robin. Fortunately I do like sports. I'm a football geek. I think I'm the only woman in the stands who knows exactly what the penalty is and who it is against before the official gives the signal. They are a few men that can do that but I've never heard another woman make the call besides myself.
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 11:20 PM
You've got a gift, Barbara. I'm lucky to remember what "first down, third and ten" means, or did I get that mixed up, too?
Posted by: Vix | September 1, 2006 11:22 PM
Both are correct as long as they are at different times. You did good Vix!
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 11:23 PM
I did Vero. I wasn't that tactful though. I was pretty blunt.
I just ticks me off when a sub comes in here and tries to tell me something different. Hello? I'm cutting the check. Bid it that way, I'm paying the bill. Did he honestly think he was going to change my mind? I think not. His loss.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 11:25 PM
Good to see you Barbara. That sounds like fun.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 11:27 PM
Sitting in the rain definitely was not fun. But it was better to sit in the rain and win than sit in the rain and lose.
And the band was great! (That was for Loretta.)
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 11:28 PM
And a kick is 3 points, a touchdown is 6, and if the kick is good after the touchdown, then it's another point?
Posted by: Vix | September 1, 2006 11:29 PM
Vix, you're on a roll!
Posted by: vero | September 1, 2006 11:31 PM
I'm back for a bit. Dinner was late, but oh well.
Vero, I'm sending positive thoughts to Heather and Jasmine.
Doe Eyes, it's infuriating to be treated that way. I get it all the time, usually from men.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 11:32 PM
Yes. And if the guy holding the ball for the kicker for that extra point messes up and suddenly has to run for his life with the ball and manages to make it across the goal line it's two points. (We did that tonight too.) They call that "going for the two point conversion".
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 11:32 PM
Cool, Barbara! And I bet that ball holder runs for his life after the game, too!
Posted by: Vix | September 1, 2006 11:35 PM
Barbara, you should write a how-to book for the sports challenged.
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 11:35 PM
Mmmmm, I just finished my pre-bedtime snack: a Hershey's dark chocolate square and an orange. Sigh.
On that, I'm brushin' my teeth and headin' to bed. Have fun with TDSS, Nadine!
Posted by: Vix | September 1, 2006 11:37 PM
I could certainly do that. Not so much for soccer. I know the basic premise but soccer rules are just insane. And it's boring to watch (for me anyway). But for football, basketball and baseball I've got you covered.
Posted by: Barbara | September 1, 2006 11:37 PM
'Night, Vix! Hosting TDSS is making me nervous. I hope I don't crack under the pressure!
Posted by: Nadine | September 1, 2006 11:40 PM
Night, Vix.
Nadine, you'll do great!
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 1, 2006 11:45 PM
Good morning! I'm just about to try Doe's home-roasted magic blend brew.
Here goes!
Posted by: loretta | September 2, 2006 09:01 AM
This is heaven, Doe.
It rained last night and we can't go outside just yet, but I look forward to the mornings where I can.
Wow~ I don't think I have ever had coffee that someone roasted at home. I bet it smells unbelievable at your house during roasting time!
Posted by: loretta | September 2, 2006 09:03 AM
OHhh, I woke up this morning to find the reopening of Misfitting. Yeeepe! It felt good, and I am sorry I missed the first moments.
Cheers!
Posted by: Anne | September 2, 2006 09:05 AM
Congratulations, Moi. Mazal Tov!
Posted by: Anne | September 2, 2006 09:06 AM
Yes, congrats to Moi's upcoming grandbaby as well as Vero's. I think that might be all so far. It's early.
Posted by: loretta | September 2, 2006 09:07 AM
I'll be off to work shortly. Long day today.
Posted by: vero | September 2, 2006 09:11 AM
Good morning!
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 2, 2006 09:18 AM
Oh good. I'm glad you like it!
Actually, I roast them out in the garage. It doesn't smell very good when they first start to roast. Green coffee beans smell like hay. It smells good when they are done and the oil first starts to come up though. The neighbors can smell it 3 houses down.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 2, 2006 09:32 AM
Well hello! It's so great to see OoaM back! I'll be out most of the day. Can't wait to get back and catch up.
Posted by: stacey | September 2, 2006 09:32 AM
Ramona has a huge show going out today, so I will be working till 6.
It's good to see everyone popping out of the woodwork!
Posted by: vero | September 2, 2006 09:34 AM
Oh, and a word for Brendan:
GO, LONGHORNS!
Posted by: vero | September 2, 2006 09:35 AM
Hi Stacey!
It sounds like you have a busy day ahead, Vero. Have fun!
Posted by: Doe Eyes | September 2, 2006 09:39 AM
Congratulations to moi and daughter!
I have my oldest granddaughter with me for the weekend. This is a pleasure because I'm not at the top of the list of relatives she stays with and lately I've become the number one choice. (Yea!) She's a sophomore in high school so we get to have adult type conversations now. It's different than having the little ones here.
Posted by: Barbara | September 2, 2006 11:01 AM
Welcome back, everyone. New entry.
