Hypocrisy thy name is Pastor Ted

ted.jpg

"Art" in an altered state

You probably heard about the shocking (!) revelations of mega Pastor Ted Haggard's secret life as a drug user and purveyor of illicit activities with (gasp) other men. Haggard vehemently denied the relationship with hustler Jones, but oddly admitted to buying drugs just to "throw them away" untouched. Alrighty! Unfortunately, the voice mails that were saved and have now been attributed to him by expert voice analysts belie this dubious claim.

Here is Haggard's first voice mail message, left on August 4 at 2:18 p.m.:

"Hi Mike, this is Art. Hey, I was just calling to see if we could get any more.

Either $100 or $200 supply. And I could pick it up really anytime...I could get it tomorrow or we could wait till next week sometime and so I also wanted to get your address.

I could send you some money for inventory but that's probably not working, so if you have it then go ahead and get what you can and I may buzz up there later today, but I doubt your schedule would allow that unless you have some in the house. Okay, I'll check in with you later. Thanks a lot, bye."

Emphasis in italics and bold mine.

Ok, ol' Art not only has used before and knows this dealer, but he knows the amounts to buy, wants it today or tomorrow (really today), is willing to pay for "inventory", and is extremely eager to get more.

Haggard was obviously jonesing (pun intended). This was no "experimental" phone call or a casual inquiry about what and where and how. This was not the first time, he did not throw it out, and he is no stranger to this transaction.

He sounds like a budding addict. I can't say "full blown" but certainly budding. Sounds like the "we" part is just a cover.

Whereas he's willing to fudge about his copping dope, he denies the gay relationship.

Apparently, in Haggard's version of Christianity, it's less of a "sin" to buy meth, but the flock might not look too kindly on being unfaithful to your wife, especially with someone of the same sex.

As the cock crows three times, evangelical theocratic buddies like Jerry Falwell are denying knowing him.

How many more of these grandstanding, bigoted, fascist hypocrites can one religion bear? Is that like asking how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, or how many camels can fit through the eye of a needle? You be the decider!

This guy's got some pretty good ideas:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Time, the Election Will Not Be Stolen
Ian Inaba is staging a revolution, and he damn sure wants it televised. His idea is to have videographers monitor voter polling sites during the upcoming mid-term elections and in greater numbers during the 2008 presidential election. Their purpose: bypass the mainstream media and provide real-time, online media coverage of any problems that arise at voting sites.
His plan for action is what he works on when not promoting his new documentary film, "American Blackout," which looks at the disenfranchisement of the Black vote in America and voting irregularities in the 2000 and 2004 national elections. The film also traces what journalist Greg Palast calls the "political lynching" of Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., for openly questioning the Bush administration's policies involving Iraq and 9/11.
II: The screenings have been very mixed and the film plays well to both minority and mainstream audiences because I think deep down everyone want to know the truth about our democracy. One young viewer stood up and said, 'I thought I was aware and political, but this film makes me feel like I have been duped and my eyes have been opened. I will dedicate my life to being aware and hope that others will do the same.
It doesn't matter what the American people think:
"It may not be popular with the public — it doesn't matter in the sense that we have to continue the mission and do what we think is right. And that's exactly what we're doing," Cheney said. "We're not running for office. We're doing what we think is right."
“There has never been an American army as violent and murderous as the one in Iraq”
The bad news,” investigative reporter Seymour Hersh told a Montreal audience last Wednesday, “is that there are 816 days left in the reign of King George II of America.”
"The good news? “When we wake up tomorrow morning, there will be one less day.”
Another one bites the dust. Now, if we can only get an independent investigation of the Bush Regime to work as quickly and thoroughly.
Posted by: loretta | November 4, 2006 08:01 PM
The Bush Junta has quietly "tooled up" to utilize the U.S. military in engaging American dissidents after the next big crisis, with a frightening and overlooked piece of legislation that was passed alongside the Military Commissions Act, which greases the skids for armed confrontation and abolishes posse comitatus.
"Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."
Just hold your nose and vote out the incumbents, whether that means to vote D or R if you normally don't.
We need to throw the bums out. It's going to take 2 or 3 cycles of elections, but we MUST DO IT.
70% polled want vigorous oversight committees or investigations for the following debacles that have occurred in the past 2 or 3 years, never mind 9/11:
Iraq
Abu Ghraib
Wiretaps
IMPEACHMENT
The Stolen Election of 2000
The Stolen Election of 2004
Katrina
Secret Prisons
Immigration Issues
Cheney's Energy Task Force
Halliburton
Impeach Supreme Court Justices
Medicare
Abramoff
Wellstone's Death
Habeus Corpus
The Pedophile Cabal
Swift Boating
Black Ops
Something is going to have to be done.
We can overcome any potential vote fraud by showing up in large numbers. The fraud technology is supposed to be set for small margins. if there is a really huge margin, there is no way that the crooks can steal this election.
re: Hunting
Have any of you ever been bird hunting in precarious terrain where camouflage attire looks so much like the surrouding foliage that is difficult to distinguish between friend and foe? Where the lay of the land throws a voice so that its sound falls 50 yards in the opposite direct from where it was cast?
I have been out deer hunting, and, I have to say that I know I could do it if I were hungry enough. I enjoy venison. But it's not something I would choose to do for fun and frivolity.
I can think of better ways to spend a freezing cold winter morning than sitting in a deer blind, forcing myself to be still and silent.
Sleeping, for one.
Hunting for food is justifiable. hunting for sport is not.
I could not stuff and hang an animal's head on my wall for "decoration".
Funny story: Two months ago a small brown hen flew into my backyard and decided to stay. She lays the occasional egg, and sleeps in a fleece lined basket on my back porch. At night, I cover her up so she won't get cold. My cats protect her from the other neighborhood cats. How funny is that?
Good morning all!
Excellent comments under discussion here. What happened to 'freedom'?
The British public already know that they were hood-winked into the war in Iraq. Every leader involved in the occupation of Iraq should be investigated and charged with War Crimes if found guilty of dishonesty.
Sorry to Vet4, but this has been a very costly fiasco. Not only in monetary terms, but the loss of our young men and women is criminal.
I want to know which British companies are getting rich. Maybe, someone can help me with that?!
A reader posted this at Sully's blog (Andrew Sullivan) (snipped):
I drive my kids and two of their friends to school in the morning and yesterday I was originally not supposed to pick my daughter's friend up as she was to greet her father returning from Iraq. She called and told us she needed a ride as they had evidently received a call that her dad would not be coming home yet, and we did not question as we were hoping nothing happened to him. Today I believe that I saw the reason why. Mr. Cheney will be here for a campaign stop this weekend part of which will be to greet the troops as they return.
So their reunion should be delayed for political purposes.
I truly believe that without the war in Iraq and the debauchery of the RWRs and the W Administration, the Federal government could have actually handled the Katrina disaster better, among every other domestic issue that has arisen since the alleged WMD "discovery". It is truly an embarrassment that we have an uninformed president. And he is supposed to, as president of the US, be the most powerful man on earth. PATHETIC
Posted by: spellcaster | November 6, 2006 07:48 PM
