How to Write a Song Parody - Kind of
I grew up reading MAD magazine and always looked forward to the editions that included song parodies. I probably didn’t understand most of the jokes and may have been unfamiliar with the original songs, but I was fascinated with the genre nonetheless.
Years ago, I would write or sing song parodies to friends and family as entertainment or a way to break up a monotonous day at work. Unlike Weird Al, I stayed away from food themes and usually wrote about sports, personal anecdotes (self-effacing), and kids. When the Peterson case became my main focus on the blog, Geragos and Company provided a plethora of fodder for musical spoof. It seemed as though every day I’d think of a song that would crystallize my opinions better than prose.
Often you can put things in a song couched in music and rhyme that you can’t “type out loud”, as the saying goes.
So you want to know how to write a song parody? There are some tips I can offer after writing some 300 or so over the past few years. I’m not sure it’s a technique that can be taught in a short blog entry, but allow me to share some of my tools.
Song parodies are inspired by many things: something in the news, a quote, celebrity malapropos, or just a theme like the Star Wars marathon I watched last year.
Before I write the song parody, I think about one or two lines I want in the song. The meter of those lines (for example, "buying a wrench in Bakersfield”) makes me think of how that rhythm exists in the encyclopedia of songs in my idiot savant archives. That line made me recall the Gerry Rafferty song, "Baker Street." And the song was born.
When I read all the things Vero had in her garage and other places (for the pack rat theme), the song, "My Favorite Things”, a song comprised of verses of lists, was a natural.
With the pack rat song, I copied all the things Vero had mentioned and put them in a document. Then, I organized them by syllables that would match the original song meter and arranged them in a sort of theme (weapons, collectibles, kid stuff, lawn equipment, jokes) and rhymed them.
Sounds simple enough, right?
But, I have a few shortcuts. Aha! There is a rhyming dictionary online that I use to give me a list of words that rhyme with any given word, like "magic." The rhyming dictionary will give me one-, two-, and three- (or four-) syllable words that rhyme with any given word. This truncates the process from the old days, when I would go through the alphabet in my mind searching for a good rhyme. With the rhyming dictionary, I can find a rhyme first and write the line around it.
Yes, it takes a certain natural ability to do this, but there are tools you can use to make things a little easier.
Once you have the first couple of verses written, it's a good idea to test them with the music. Find a midi (another shortcut: midi search engine online), and find a good one. This may use all the time you saved with the rhyming dictionary, but it's fun. It’s important to have the right midi. I know some of you read the lyrics without the midi, but I think the midi enhances the experience.
Your new lyrics may look good on paper, but they have to pass the sing test. If you can't sing them easily, you have to rewrite them. This is one of the "art'" parts of the song parody. The other "art" part is condensing the story you want to tell within the confines of the song. I can't teach you how to do that; it's kind of like The Force. You either have it or you don't.
You can't just squish a bunch of words in there and call that a song, even if one or two lines rhyme. That's not a song. It's a gobbledy-gook.
Another issue is using the right song. You have to find a song that has the same tone (flavor, idea) as the lyrics you want to use. You aren't parodying the song itself, you are borrowing the melody like a suit and dressing something else in it. You still have the suit. You have to make the suit fit your new character.
Thus, if you are imitating something sad, you use a song that works with that idea. For example, in the Laci tributes, I used bittersweet show tunes ("They Can't Take That Away from Me”, and "These Foolish Things") to convey the idea. You wouldn't use "I Want to Hold your Hand" for a song about Laci.
Another example: the "One Note Samba." The repetitive but amusing melody that listed all the things Peterson had growing up reflected his penalty phase strategy, but also lent a little levity to the situation, along with a catchy Latin beat to make it fun and easy to sing.
Another thing that I try to do (and sometimes have to alter, but rarely) is to stay within the exact rhyming scheme of the original song. You have to keep the original lyrics handy to make sure you are rhyming the right words in the right lines and using words that make sense in the context of your song.
It’s important to try and write the lines with exactly the same rhythm, rhyme structure, pace and theme.
Any chance you get, throw in a surprise joke just to crack yourself up. If you laugh, someone else will laugh. You hope.

Those songs were a great way to break up the seriousness of the trial and I had the pleasure of doing a few with you.

Yes, CG, you didn't have many, but yours were all gems. Great stuff. I particularly liked the collaboration about "What Would You Think!"
heh
Hate that song. Loved the parody.

You all know that I'm lousy at the parodies so I don't even try (except once and I was very critical of myself for the mistakes I made in that one). I have other talents so I don't beat myself up about it. I enjoy the talent of my gifted friends.

And, everyone participated in the Bogless Christmas spoofs. Oh, that was hilarious. I still saved them all in PDF.
I want to be buried with them. heh

You always took them and added a fall down on the floor laughing twist.

Just some snarky stuff. It's a curse. heh
Posted by: loretta | January 24, 2007 09:29 PM
I would keep that in mind but I'm sure I will go before you so I won't be around to make sure your wishes are fulfilled. It would be better to tape them and play them at the wake.

I still think you should send a selection to Beach Blanket Babylon plus some topical political parodies. You could work for them long distance!
Posted by: Astrologer | January 24, 2007 09:37 PM
My dad could do it, the parody songs, that is. I don't believe that it can be taught. I think it is innate a requires a spontaneous and inspired moment. My sisters and I wrote a musical to 42nd Street tunes when my mother was at MD Anderson for cancer surgery. We have of course lost the only copy. In some times humor is better than medicene.

You are right on Astro!
Posted by: moi | January 25, 2007 12:10 AM
I only ever wrote the one. To the tune of "Bye Bye Blackbird." You can guess what my title was, can't you? I wish I had saved it.

Vero is bach! I am still humming and whistlin that dang gigolo tune. It is driving moi crazy. I have just put dear goddess pregnant one to bed and am also going off my own self. Dig up those tunes and lyrics. Gigg-a-low has permeated my brain holes just like somewhere over the rainbow and frosty the snowman. Somebody turn it awf! Please, I pray for it in my bended knee position! Too funny for words. Take it away somebody, please.

A comparison just occurred to me: Song parodies >>>> YouTubessss jokes. I mean, those who can't write a song parody(probably don't have the talent), put a link to YT or something to the kind of.
Your parodies always made me laugh and smile and I will never forget the Bogless Christmas.

I wanted to let everyone know, that Jasmine is doing good. Her surgery was great. She was a real trooper, but where's the surprise there. She was in surgery from 7am to 3pm. Her new bone is in place and was a PERFECT FIT; said Dr. Lewis. Great to hear! She is in some pain but they are handling it with a lot of pain medicine. She wanted me to let everyone know, how much she loves all of you! Everyone who writes her on here or sends her sweet beautiful cards. You all are in her heart and prayers as well. She also wanted me to let you know, she can't wait until she is able to walk...again!!!! I will sign this off with what Jazz has said. Know she loves all of you and is very grateful for God putting all of you in her life. Love, JASMINE [via her mother]!
Here is an excerpt of Jasmine's mother's report of her surgery. I'd like to add my thanks to hers for all of your good thoughts and prayers.

Well, the show opened tonight. It went pretty well. I was told by patrons that it was very good.
However, out Publicity person did a rushed job on the program, and I am very disappointed in it. She got me a copy to proof, and then, by the time I got the corrections to her (45 minutes later), it had already gone to the printer. It has a LOT of mistakes, and the WORST picture of me that has EVER been taken. I am so ticked off that I can hardly breathe.
She does her best, bless her heart, but her day job dishes a lot of pressure, so most of her theater stuff is done in the middle of the night. I was up till almost three, waiting for her to send it to me to proof.

Sorry for bringing this over here, but I think this deserves the right place:
"I have gone over the 3,000 mark in book sales."
Congratulations! You did it and you deserve it.
I know our contribution (from The Misfits) helped a bit, lets say, maybe 50, top 100. On the other hand, those ridiculous, shameful and preposterous muttcritics (who never even read the book) for sure hurt the sales. 3,000 is a good number for their mutt eyes and blind minds. Great achievement under adverse scenario.
Delete at your will.
Posted by: Anne | January 27, 2007 09:48 AM
Congratulations! WooHoo! THREE THOUSAND!!
I am thrilled! Do you have any breakdown as to how many from what source? Lulu, Amazon, B & N, etc? Not that it really matters; I'm just curious.
Posted by: vero | January 27, 2007 10:16 AM
I can't break it down specifically by store, but there are 4 categories: online booksellers in the US (all the domestic online sales), online booksellers abroad (UK, other countries, I sold a lot in the UK), direct from the publisher (the smallest number of sales, which is too bad because that was where the book was cheapest or available in PDF and where I made the most royalties), and off-line sales including li-barries, bookstores that were requested to order the book, and my personal sales.
Posted by: loretta | January 27, 2007 10:41 AM
Good job, Loretta!
When are you going to start another book?
Posted by: Deege | January 27, 2007 12:15 PM
Husband is gone for the day and I'm watching Lifetime Movies again. (This can be SOOO addictive!) This one is about a stalker. I'm not really sure why I do this to myself because I'll probably have a nightmare tonight.
Just reading CTV and getting involved in the Michelle Young case has brought on the nightmares. I should find another hobby.
Posted by: Barbara | January 27, 2007 03:43 PM
Barbara, just visualize yourself shooting the stalker.
That should take care of the nightmares.
Posted by: Nadine | January 27, 2007 04:41 PM
That's a nightmare all by itself. I can't see me shooting someone. I'll have to visualize myself waking up. That's what I usually do in nightmares.
I had one the other morning where I was about to find my youngest daughter as the victim of a crime and I blissfully woke up. I hate waking up in the morning (when I have to wake up before 6 a.m.) so it was a relief to wake up and realize that the horrible scenario was only a dream.
Posted by: Barbara | January 27, 2007 05:34 PM
Congratulations on the book sales- that is wonderful!
Posted by: Abby | January 27, 2007 10:27 PM
I'd take a nightmare or two at this point, if it meant I was asleep.
One of the things I've learned about being a director is that they don't get enough sleep.

Missing 3 yr old Montana boy found in septic tank w/the cover on it!
Posted by: Anonymous | January 28, 2007 07:13 PM
KALISPELL, Mont. — The body of a 3-year-old boy who disappeared outside a home near here was found in a septic tank late Friday, less than 10 feet from where he was reported missing two days earlier, Flathead County Sheriff Mike Meehan said Saturday.
An autopsy performed in Missoula showed Loic J.M. Rogers drowned, Meehan said.
The blond-haired, blue-eyed boy was reported missing Wednesday night, and an Amber Alert was issued Thursday. The boy's father, Mark Rogers, told police he took Loic out to his car outside a friend's home and told the boy to get in, before going back into the house for Loic's sister.
Mark Rogers "said he was inside only for a minute," Meehan said Friday. When he came back outside, the boy was gone. The father said he searched for about 20 minutes before calling law enforcement.
Authorities said Saturday they had looked in the septic tank during search efforts, but did not see anything. They found the boy's body after draining the tank, Meehan said.
The manhole-sized lid to the septic tank was closed. Meehan declined to characterize the boy's death as a murder, but said investigators do not believe he could have climbed into the tank and put the lid back on.

Anonymous, I was just going to post a link to that story. Sickening!
Posted by: CountryGal | January 28, 2007 07:43 PM
I don't believe there is any way anyone could have grabbed him, lifted the lid to that tank and put him in there within 'one minute' that the dad was in the house.
Posted by: CountryGal | January 28, 2007 07:45 PM
I've been following this one at Huff's Crimeblog.us. Somebody is not telling the truth, IMO. Maybe to cover a momentary negligence, or something more sinister.
In my experience, three-year-olds frequently want to do things like get in the car by their "ownselfs." I used to think about doors closing on tiny hands and never allowed it without standing right there. The thought of leaving a three-year-old to get in the car by himself while I went back in the house for another child doesn't ring true.
It was reported that the FBI and Secret Service were involved in the search and investigation, as well as local services, and the Border Partol. Why?

Posted by: vero | January 28, 2007 08:14 PM
Yes, and why take him out alone (the youngest) and then go back for the other two? You can carry him and walk with the other two at the same time--or walk all three out together.
I did read it was an above ground tank and the lid wasn't secured and it wasn't a heavy lid--but the lid was on. I have never heard of a septic tank like that--every tank I've ever had was in the ground and the lid was cement.
Posted by: CountryGal | January 28, 2007 08:59 PM
Ours, we had to dig down to the lid.
Posted by: vero | January 28, 2007 09:16 PM
That's so sad. I read earlier today that the mother was in the hospital. I wish I could find the article. I'll go look again.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | January 28, 2007 09:25 PM
Here it is.
http://www.wral.com/news/national_world/national/story/1181336/
The lid looks like it's made out of plywood.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | January 28, 2007 09:28 PM
If that lid is plywood, the little boy could have raised it with one hand, leaned over to look in, and lost his balance, doesn't it?
That certainly doesn't look like any septic tank I've ever seen.
Posted by: Deege | January 28, 2007 09:39 PM
Me either, Deege.
The opening looks like it goes right along the foundation of the house.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | January 28, 2007 09:50 PM
I am very skeptical and suspect foul play myself.
Posted by: Barbara | January 28, 2007 09:50 PM
There is NO WAY that picture depicts a septic tank. That is the entrance to a storm cellar, or some such. The reports said the tank had a plastic cover the size of a manhole cover. They also said it had been driven over, which means it had to be at ground level. According to one of the links from Huff's, the bolts that were supposed to secure the lid were broken.
Posted by: vero | January 28, 2007 10:02 PM
It looks like the outside entrance to a crawl space.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | January 28, 2007 10:11 PM
Thanks, Vero.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | January 28, 2007 10:20 PM
Also, if that were the tank, the searcher would not be getting in there in bunker gear. He'd at least have on something relatively water/yuck-proof.

O/T, but, this is just sad. (hahahahaha)

Posted by: loretta | January 29, 2007 07:59 AM
That is not the same thing they showed on the news. It was smaller, round, out in the grass, and had a green plastic cover. It was raised enough that you probably couldn't drive over it, but you could back into it and damage it.

Posted by: Abby | January 29, 2007 01:33 PM
I'm late weighing in on the little Montana boy. This from the linked article caught my eye:
The boy's mother, Ariel Rogers, who is expecting her fourth child, was hospitalized so doctors could monitor her after she learned of her son's death.
"I want to know that my other two children are safe in that man's care," she said in a tearful interview with KAJ-TV Saturday. She has said she and the boy's father are in a custody battle. "He was supposed to be looking after him, he was supposed to be safe there, and he wasn't."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Custody battle. Red flag.
RIP Barbaro. So sad.
There was a case locally several years ago when a little boy fell into an open septic tank at an Eagles picnic. Fieger sued the Eagles.
That was an old tank, though, unused.
This recent one doesn't look like a septic tank to me and who lets their 3 year old go get in the car by themselves in the dark?
All sort of hinky.
Posted by: Lisa | January 29, 2007 05:33 PM
It doesn't look like a septic tank to me either. Like Vero said, it looks like it's an entrance to a basement or crawl space--who puts a septic tank under the house?
Posted by: CountryGal | January 29, 2007 05:54 PM
That pic is not the septic tank. The septic tank was described as having a manhole-sized green plastic cover.
Posted by: vero | January 29, 2007 06:12 PM
It'd be interesting to see if that was code for that area. Septic tanks are supposed to be a certain distance from a house unless they are engineered fields.
And is a permanent cover required?
Posted by: Lisa | January 29, 2007 06:15 PM
The septic tank was some feet from the house. Apparently, the tank was a standard one. The only problem was that the bolts that were supposed to anchor the lid were sheared off because the thing had been hit or run over.
I am glad mine is cement and is buried with only a small clean-out cement lid showing that we use for the horse trailer when we get back from a trip. TMI I know. But I never even thought about a septic tank being a danger to a child.
Hard to tell the diameter of those lids. They don't look heavy.
To those of you on the left coast, OTR has pictures of the septic tank lid, reported to be 10 ft. from the house.
IMO, it looked like an oversized manhole cover (3 ft. in diameter?) and it wasn't heavy at all. It probably weighed about one pound.
She lives in Wyoming and has a large access at the ranch for those magnificent smell-good animals. Girls just want to have horses. I have had my horse-lust full-filled and now I have my bird-lust. Krimmeney-Crackers, my Alpha bird has bonded with my pregnant daughter to the point that she is now in her box-mode and is (this is January, ya'll and knot the season of the laying on of aigs) I have NO doubt or doobintatiousniss that there will be an egg laid before the departure of dear pregnant daughter. The bird is in a state of laying and in her box tonight instead of on her perch. OMG this is not the bach rum, it is the front page and apogies all around the FP.
I'm really surprised. I thought there were lots of holes in this one.
I was busier than usual today because I got Windows Vista so I upgraded my computer. I put it on for no other reason than that it's really pretty. (Great backgrounds.)
I do need to upgrade my memory. YOu can do it with 512mb but you really should have 1g or more. And it wiped out all my inbox mail on my POP3 account in Outlook. Also Outlook didn't work right so I had to do a repair on it. That's all I have so far but it's only a few hours old.
Thanks robin. Just reading that link made me weepy and sad. She and my dad were mutual friend journalists and on the same page if you know what I mean. Such a loss to humanity and to journalism.
Good Evening!
Thanks for the link Astro.
RIP, Milly Ivins.
Barbara, I'll be waiting for your update on Vista. Let us know what you think.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | January 31, 2007 08:51 PM
I'm suffering so you don't have to.
Two more problems, somewhat related: I also lost all my contacts and all saved dates on the calendar. No problem. I'll just restore them from my handheld. My handheld wouldn't sync. Active sync doesn't work with Vista. They have a BETA release of something called "Windows Mobile Device Center" that you have to download. Once you get that done it's a slick program and works very well but I can't understand why it wasn't included in Vista. Maybe it will be once it's out of the BETA phase.
It has some cool little additions Doe. It has a sidebar with "gadgets". One of them is a slideshow so you can view some of your favorite pictures on your desktop in little thumbnails. It's a nice to watch when you're waiting for something to happen, like a download.
I'm glad you have a slideshow to watch though.
It's a gawd dayum shame how the politicians have turned Texas into a toll road hell. They all ought to be hanged for their treason in stealing the roads and turning them into cash registers.
A Detective on the MY case rang our doorbell tonight at 6pm. He came in, asked us our full names, birth dates, what type of car we drove, what our normal morning routine was (when we left the house for work), if anything peculiar happened on Nov. 3 that we remember, etc.
We (of course) asked him what kind of progress is being made in the case, but he just said that it was as if someone dropped a puzzle on his desk in a big box and he had 10,000 pieces to sort through to come up with the final picture. Yeah, yeah, great example for us to imagine his work load, but that doesn't give the neighborhood any new reassurances or information.
So my question for all of you is this.....do you all think this means they have reached a dead end and are now just coming back to re-process the information 3 months later, or that they are close to an arrest and are just trying to come up with the final "smoking gun"?
Your thoughts??
Posted by: Enchancted Oaks Resident | February 1, 2007 09:17 PM
Hi again and welcome, EOR.
I don't think it means they've reached a dead end. They may be investigating a lead that required them to go back out and pound some pavement to see if it can be substantiated.
The DA's office probably doesn't want the case until all leads are exhausted. Especially if the case is going to be mostly circumstantial.
Is this the first time the investigators have come by your residence? If so, it very will could me that they are preparing to wrap up the investigation and are preparing for an arrest.
Posted by: Monica | February 1, 2007 09:27 PM
Apparently, the police showed up at the door of the person who posts at CTV and went to view the autopsy photos.
EOR, were other residents of the neighbourhood visited by LE?
I sure hope it means they are close to a solution.
Posted by: vero | February 2, 2007 12:46 AM
Captain Joe, I never knew the roads were owned by a foreign company, but the whole concept of "eminent domain" bothers me.
Astro, thanks for that link. I mentioned it to Jim, and he says he knew the road was owned by a foreign concern, but did not know the name or nation of the company.
Once again, we have been sold down the river.
I gotta think that JY's alibi must be tight and perhaps some of the DNA didn't check out to be JY. What's the neighborhood thinking about the 15 year-old neighbor and the trailerpark trash as suspects?
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 2, 2007 06:42 PM
That was a red herring posted very early in by someone trying to divert suspicion. The same person also said the MY was found nude...
Posted by: Enchanted Oaks Resident | February 2, 2007 07:53 PM
Now why would someone feel they needed to divert suspicion?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Posted by: Barbara | February 2, 2007 09:02 PM
EOR
Yeah, I know there are lotza irons in the fire over the MY killing, but what if JY did have a tight alibi? Is the neighbor kid a Goth type? Isn't Nov. 3 some kind of Devil event that Edgar Allen Poe wrote about? Ain't the trailer trash real close by? Don't criminal types live there? If you enter the rare last name of the neighbor (15 year old) and goth in Google, don't you get a lot of hits?
Posted by: Anonymous | February 2, 2007 10:14 PM
I think every date has some satanic meaning. And I think we probably all have some goth kid living within five miles of us.
Shades of the SP case. Bring up Donnie and the tan van and the circle will be complete.
Posted by: Barbara | February 2, 2007 10:18 PM
Sorry for the poor choice of wording. I should have said 'possibly to divert suspicion'. I have no idea what the posters motives were. And no, I don't believe the kid is a goth. Just another red herring...
Posted by: Enchanted Oaks Resident | February 2, 2007 10:35 PM
I was being sarcastic. I certainly believe that there are some that are trying to divert attention. I think there are others that really don't or can't believe he could have done something like this. Those that point the finger at someone else while they blast us for speculating that it could be Jason are the ones that really irritate me.
Posted by: Barbara | February 2, 2007 10:40 PM
I'm getting tired of all this "goth" stuff. Joe, I know this is a pet peeve of yours, and I respect that. Lord knows, it was a factor in the Taylor Behl case, and you were spot on with that.
However, I know a lot of respectable people who live in mobile homes, and both my girls went through a 'goth" phase, though both bristled when I called it that. But they did oddly-coloured dair and one did piercings. They both have fairly major tattoos. At 29 and 25, they are quite respectable nowadays. It's a phase that a lot of kids seem to go through without causing any major harm to themselves or to others.
It's a form of rebellion that appeals to certain kids, especially intelligent ones that like to read and have a healthy dose of sarcasm in their nature.
Posted by: vero | February 2, 2007 11:40 PM
I never really noticed the goth phenomenon till the Behl case. I must have missed it. Then the Behl case was closely followed by that Dyleski mess. I thought it was a growing menace. In the past I did notice a lot of teens had piercings and dressed slouchy, but it didn't occur to me that that was goth. Then the Behl case with all the satanic bull hit me like a ton of bricks. Were the kids turning evil or what. I didn't travel in those circles where it was very visible, so naturally when all these deaths started appearing, including Columbine, I thought the kids were going to hell like the kids in the Fifties with rock and roll. I thought it was, or is, a serious problem. Who knose, maybe it is and we just don't realize it.
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 3, 2007 12:17 AM
Some kids seem to be self-destructive, and some of the self-destructive ones seem to be "goth." I know a few who cut themselves, for instance. I know of none who would actually harm another person.
Now, one of my daughters had a boyfriend at one time who maintained a list of those he would allow to live, when he got around to blowing up the world. he had very long hair, but was much more into muscle cars than "goth."
I think that we tend to pigeonhole these kids according to their appearance, or the music they like, or whatever, and I think that individuals rarely completely fit into any one classification.
I was like that. I liked Jimi Hendrix and Victorian furniture. That purple psychedelic poster looked really funny on the paisley striped wallpaper. LOL!
It has been said that hormones or whatever, cause kids to be a bit psycho at adolescence. Generations ago, they had their place in the family--working, earning, helping. Now, that has all changed, and our kids grow up without the day-to-day necessity for their labour on behalf of the family. therefore, they are at a loose end; one that goes unfilled by videogames, schoolwork, organized sports, or hanging out with friends. It's all makework, designed to keep them busy and out of trouble, and don't think they don't know it.
They are cynical, or think they are, and feel useless. The "goth" thing throws their feelings in the faces of their parents and other adults. Pretty effective, I would say.
Posted by: vero | February 3, 2007 12:41 AM
I do think there is a legitimate comparison to the Young case and the Vitale case though. Someone did a comparison of the two autopsy reports and they are very similar.
Posted by: Barbara | February 3, 2007 08:46 AM
True. And, in the absence of any TV interviews with Jason, I don't have the rock-solid gut feeling that he is guilty, the way I had in the Peterson case. I still think it is likely, but I was wrong in the other case you mentioned.
Posted by: vero | February 3, 2007 09:42 AM
The coincidence factor (of asking Meredith to go over and get the print out) and the affair factor are the only two things that really lead me in the direction of the husband. There isn't enough real evidence to point to him. But there is also zero evidence that it was "some other guy" so I'm still waiting to find out more.
I don't trust his friends and/or family that try to defend him. They had more credibility before they started trying to create a case against the sister.
Posted by: Barbara | February 3, 2007 09:48 AM
I really don't understand all the comments at CTV that Meredith was much too calm on the 911 tape.
It sounded to me like a forced calm, and the edge of hysteria was right under the surface. If she could put that little quiver in her voice artificially, she should be in line for an acting award, IMO. The 911 call soudned so real to me. Much more so that if she had been screaming. If she had been screaming, Cassidy would have, as well.
Posted by: vero | February 3, 2007 10:02 AM
This is coming from people who have never been put in a situation where your senses are first shocked. You really don't react the way people do in the movies. The first reaction is one of total disbelief. That's what I'm hearing in the 911 call. She could not have rehearsed and pulled off that call if she had been involved.
Compare that to the Peterson-east 911 calls where he is totally out of control and you get the idea of how a person that plans the call might sound.
Posted by: Barbara | February 3, 2007 10:08 AM
Good morning!
I totally agree with your statement above, Barbara. The friends/family did have more credibility before they started pointing the finger at MF.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | February 3, 2007 10:27 AM
With the theories of those who are close to JY pointing to someone else close to the family, that just tells me that they don't believe it's a stranger/burglar either. In that way, they make it seem more likely that it could be JY who did this.
Posted by: Barbara | February 3, 2007 11:08 AM
Very good point, Barbara.
Posted by: vero | February 3, 2007 11:13 AM
I sure hope the family/friends see that statement, Barbara. So true.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | February 3, 2007 11:48 AM
I quit participating at CTV a long time ago. It became apparent to me that some of those people would argue with a piece of grass if it wasn't green.
I don't think some of those people even believe what they are typing, but rather just stirring the pot and generally there to be a nuisance.
I listened to the 911 call at least 5 times and I can tell you that Meredith sounded to me like she was ready to completely fall apart at any moment but was holding it together for her neice and for her bludgeoned sister in the event that she could have actually helped her. Nothing about that 911 call was fake, contrived or suspicious in my opinion.
"Mystery of Time and Space"
It's a free online game that has challenges. You go into rooms and have to find clues in order to be able to leave that room and go to the next. It involves some creative problem solving and William loves it! I guess it's better than the video games that involve so much fighting. There is no fighting in this game, just "figurin'".
If you're getting this email, it means that your six-word memoir was hand-selected by the editors of SMITH Magazine as one of our very favorites. And while it's true that the iPod's already been awarded, there's a pretty awesome honorable mention situation we hope you'll be as excited about as we are.
We got a book deal! And you know what, so did you! In 2008, HarperCollins will publish NOT QUITE WHAT I WAS PLANNING: And Other Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure. I'm writing to about 400 memoirists out of over 5,000 who submitted in hopes of including you guys in our book.
And in the user-generated spirit of SMITH, we're illustrating the book by asking each of you to supply a photo of yourself, a photo you've taken, a doodle or drawing or collage or graphic or any other visual you feel represents your life story. The only rule is that it can't be someone else's copyright. The more creative, the better! Please send it to this email in high res/300dpi if possible.
```````````
hehehehe. Now I need a picture. Plus, I can't remember my 6-word memoir. Dang.

A friend of mine (young friend, colleague) was in a bar and Mr. Manning was there. He bought her a drink and it wasn't anything other than just being a nice guy. He's married and doesn't try to pretend he's not (according to my friend). He gets a bad rap sometimes but I think he's driven on the field and a nice guy off the field.

Don't feel that you have to play it all tonight, vero. It's a looooooooooong game, especially when you play it for the first time. When you come back in, you can hit "Continue game" and it will pick you up where you left off. I think if you're in the middle of a level it will start you back at the beginning of that level, but you don't have to start all over again.

Games over.
Congrats to the Colts!
Back to business.
The DUMB'ing down of America started a l-o-n-g time ago.
The coup d'état was when the greatest wordsmith of my time, died.
Leaving a jokester in his wake, (we have been disappointed, one and all).
Will Shortz (IMO) doesn't have the credentials to use his own spittle to polish Eugene T. Maleska's shoes.
Unfortunately there will NEVER be a showdown.
Maleska was a connoisseur of, not only A language, but the languages. Shortz has bastardized his predecessor's efforts at every single turn. Maleska taught us year after year, Shortz has turned a mental exercise into a playground event, enviable only by a contortionist.
Disgusting!
The day that Will Shortz ( former "Game Magazine" guru) took control of the NYT puzzle, I knew I was in trouble.
I hoped for better, I really did.
A guy that created a whole new "major" in college? An Enigmatologist?
BIG WHOOP!
He managed to publish a Sunday puzzle in the NYT about Bill Clinton, that even Bill Clinton could solve in ONE hour.
I rest my case!

Good Morning! Have we recovered from the party?
Posted by: vero | February 5, 2007 08:06 AM
Vero-
The stones go in the slots in the order they came off the wall. You have to pull them out to create a specific pattern. I think there are four stages with each stone. You should be able to pull them all the way out and then push them back in if you have an incorrect pattern. Once you get the pattern correct, turn the head loose at the opening and let him go through the maze. Then you have to figure out how to lower the steps in order to go through the door.
Posted by: Barbara | February 5, 2007 08:08 AM
Actually I should say in the order that they are on the screen for you to pick them up. (I'm not sure if it will let you put them in the wrong slots. I've never tried. There may be no "wrong" slots.)
Posted by: Barbara | February 5, 2007 08:15 AM
They will only go in the one they are supposed to. Next time I go in there, I'll be messing with numbers.

I came across this site searching for info on the Jason/Michelle Young case. Not your run of the mill blog. Hilarious and interesting.
Posted by: Marcelaine | February 5, 2007 05:51 PM
I saw A.L.'s article regarding the autopsy photos as well. So brutal. Terrible. Not much out there on this case. The police are being pretty quiet and the husband is not talking either (which, like it or not, is probably smart-guilty or innocent). I wonder if they have completed testing on any of forensics? IIRC his car was returned to him?
Posted by: Marcelaine | February 5, 2007 05:57 PM
Hi, Marcelaine and welcome.
Yes, his SUV was returned to him.
It's been over 3 months so you'd think most of the forensics are back. I do recall someone saying that there was a backlog at the crime lab though.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | February 5, 2007 06:05 PM
I'm pretty sure that the investigators are still gathering information. That could mean that they are still no closer to solving the crime or it could mean that they are just wrapping up a few details.
Based on a comment on another board by someone who has communicated directly with a reporter in the case, they are hinting that "some other dude did it" but they still are not convinced that Jason wasn't involved.
Posted by: Barbara | February 5, 2007 06:41 PM
Welcome, Marcelaine. Yes, we have a lot of fun here. Lately I have been way too busy to be a good blog hostess, but I am freeing up some time soon and will be "bach" with new stuff.
I can't see how another dude did it with that kind of rage and w/o leaving a whole bunch of evidence.
That kind of rage is either pent-up hate or drug-induced, imo.
I'm wondering how competent the Raleigh police are. I do not have a lot of confidence in them. Please prove me wrong, RPD.
Posted by: loretta | February 5, 2007 07:07 PM
It seems like a very 'personal' attack to me. One that was full of rage.
I hope your wrong about the Raleigh Police Department.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | February 5, 2007 07:26 PM
Wow! AL has an interesting take on the pics.
Posted by: vero | February 5, 2007 07:28 PM
Based on the viciousness of the attack-and nothing supposedly taken from the home-i.e. robbery motive, it seems it would most likely be someone known to Michelle Young (which bears out statistically as well) or like you said, drug-induced crime gone wrong. If they believe it could be another male, would it be possible that she was sexually assaulted & police haven't released that info? I guess I am wondering what information/evidence they may have that would lead them to believe another male? Of course, that theory is just rumor, speculation.
I have a good friend that used to parody songs-he had a really funny parody of John Mellencamps song Jack and Diane. cant remember it all now, but, most of it not suitable for posting on the internet...Really good parody requires a certain knack/kind of talent/mind : ) . Hope we get more info on this case soon.
Posted by: Marcelaine | February 5, 2007 07:34 PM
The only reason I could even believe the other dude theory could be true is because of Pam Vitale. That was the same type of rage beating and nothing was taken because he was after a delivery to himself sent to their address (if I remember correctly). Of course he left tons of evidence and was arrested soon after. I'm just saying that it does happen so it isn't statistical but it is possible.
Posted by: Barbara | February 5, 2007 07:42 PM
You're right, Barbara. Makes me wonder if some crimes intentionally don't fit a specific M.O. to create confusion as to motive and likely suspects.
Marcelaine, it's nice to see someone new who can appreciate the diversity here. It doesn't hurt to be slightly warped enough to really enjoy the occasional hysterical song parodies and comments you're likely to find here.
Posted by: Nadine | February 5, 2007 07:50 PM
But, JY remains silent.
I'd do everything I could to let LE move on beyond me and find the real killer.
Where is the tip line?
Where is there a reward offered to catch the person who brutally murdered his wife and unborn son?

Just the Facts has been hammering MF all day on a thread called MF-POI at CTV. The thread apparently got out of hand and the moderator just pulled it.
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 5, 2007 09:34 PM
wasn't "Just the Facts" a Young apologist, IIRC?
Posted by: loretta | February 5, 2007 09:42 PM
The pulling of it had nothing to do with JTF though. JTF hasn't been back for hours. There was no reason given for pulling it. The JTF nonsense stayed online all day long.
Posted by: Barbara | February 5, 2007 09:43 PM
Marcelaine, for one, she was dressed in undies, pajama pants, a shirt and a hoodie. It seems unlikely that a rapist would dress her after killing or raping her.
That sort of beating is not considered likely for a woman. Women usually poison or shoot. Beating takes a lot of strength, especially to crack the skull, and is just so messy. I realize that is just a statistical probability, but I think it more likely that a man, and a large one, at that, did this deed. I think in the Autopsy Report it was stated that the killer had big hands. Something to do with the bruising pattern of the attempted strangulation, IIRC.
Posted by: vero | February 5, 2007 09:45 PM
UNLESS someone from the family just found out about it and lodged a complaint. The accusations were WAY over the top.
Posted by: Barbara | February 5, 2007 09:45 PM
I didn't go there. I'm following along on the daily thread.
Posted by: vero | February 5, 2007 09:46 PM
They accusations were way over the top.
I can't believe that wasn't pulled this morning when JTF's started it.
The discussion moved on during the day.
Posted by: Doe Eyes | February 5, 2007 09:56 PM
Speaking of over the top, I was just reading the bizarre story about the female astronaut who drove 900 miles to try to kidnap a woman that she believed was her romantic rival for the affections of a pilot.
It's on the msnbc front page. You have to read it to believe it. It is just crazy!
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 08:01 AM
Yep. We hold those Women Astronauts up to our daughters as shining examples of the old maxim, "You can be anything you want to be," and then one of them (heh) "spaces out."
Oh well, she wasn't put on this earth to live up to our expectations...
Still, the phrase "Stark, Raving, Batsh*t" comes to mind. I wonder how this all happened. Don't they have to pass all sorts of psych tests?
Let the puns begin!
She must have thought that pilot was really "far out!" I wonder if he put her "over the moon."
Posted by: vero | February 6, 2007 08:37 AM
I agree that it was most likely a man that attacked Michelle Young. I forgot about what she was wearing. Based on on the above post by Vero, it doesn't seem likely she was sexually assaulted unless there is information the police aren't releasing to public.
The astronaut lady (and her "unflattering" mug shot) are the talk of the office this morning!
Posted by: Marcelaine | February 6, 2007 09:17 AM
Good morning!
You're right, that the most bizarre story I've heard this week.
It looks like her bail was set at $15,550.
"Chris Ferguson, a pilot on the mission, also attended the hearing. Asked afterward about Nowak's behavior, Ferguson said "perplexed is the word I'm sticking with."
Ya think?
Posted by: Doe Eyes | February 6, 2007 10:57 AM
Vero, you're killing me!
That is such a strange story. From reading the articles, I got the impression that she wasn't involved with the man, other that as a co-worker. It just seems so extreme. I thought there were all kind of psych tests to qualify to be an astronaut. It seems so odd that they wouldn't have caught it if she were that unstable.
I have been reading about MY the past few days. I'm getting sucked in.
Posted by: Abby | February 6, 2007 11:03 AM
oh heck. It's just too easy.
Talk about peeling out of the squadron.
Going into orbit.
Moonstruck to the max.
It must be some serious pathological co-dependency thing. This woman is smart. She must have had a rough childhood.
Posted by: loretta | February 6, 2007 11:21 AM
That astronut must have some very severe psychological problems. She's so way out there she wore a diaper on her drive from Houston to Orlando so she wouldn't have to stop.

Raging hormones in space. Gotta wonder what NASA is planning. Perhaps a bordello in space? I thought they checked these space candidates for stability. Thank gawd the catfight was on Earth and not in an orbiting shuttle.
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 6, 2007 01:17 PM
She's not getting out on bail now. They added attempted murder to the charge.
"Nowak, a Navy captain and married mother of three, had already been charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted vehicle burglary with battery, destruction of evidence and battery, and a judge had said Tuesday morning that she could be freed on $15,500 bail provided she stay away from the other woman and wear a monitoring device.
She was about to be released when she was notified that she wouldn’t be going anywhere, Orange County jail spokesman Allen Moore said."
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 01:27 PM
Imagine a Navy Captain having to sit in the accused chair in her Navy uniform throughout a trial with all the press and television present. This is not going to look good for the Navy or NASA. Others in their uniforms will be sitting in the witness chair giving evidence. Oh, the humanity and humility! I gotta think that NASA and the Navy are going to pull strings to squelch this trial.

Posted by: CountryGal | February 6, 2007 04:31 PM
Softy judge lets her off with an additional 10 grand bail. I wonder if the guy she was after will get a restraining order. She needs to go to a rubber room. I imagine the Navy will try to put her in a nuthouse. Maybe she can claim post partum depression.
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 6, 2007 04:45 PM

Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 06:41 PM
It looks like Ms. Shipman did file a restraining order.
"In a separate court filing Monday, after the parking lot incident, Shipman sought a restraining order and said Nowak has been stalking her for two months. Shipman also said Nowak was using government resources and computers to investigate information, including her flight information, in order to aid her stalking and Monday's attack."

Is this a plot to redirect ire attention from the current adminnie-mause plause. This is certainly taking away attention from the current situation in this adminnie-mause. I have watched too many episoids of 24 and I have wire-werked myseff through too many political ploys. This is not reality. This is Surreal and as we know bizarre. This is a combo platter. I don't trust that she is the culpret. Something will come out of this whiz spin, something started this. I simply do not see this happening to this woman. There is some drug thing going on to distract the media from this war. I put that apse-hole Cheney in cargo de todo. Shoot me or sue me. This is not reality. She has been drugged and programmed. It is really not a laughing matterer/dependsnotwithstanding/she has not had a breakdown. She has been drugged and sent to do this mission. There are families envolved here.

On the news tonight they mentioned her twin daughters and how proud they were of her when she went into space this past summer. For all the jokes, there are many devastated lives tonight.
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 10:19 PM
What gauls my spleen is that the media is so all over this. It is a travesty. Does anyone here THINK? Does anyone actually analyze the input from netwerp TB. I mean, affairs are affairs but this is awf the effin wall.
This is a manipulated exposure. Simple-minded distraction for the polly-tishins. Makes me want to throw up. Does any one still think or analyze ot actually do critical thinking. Oh, and yes, oh, my dear, does anyone in ire special govt provide psychological care of those that they rip into space? We don't even take care of the VETERANS OF WAR. Posted by: moi | February 6, 2007 10:25 PM
Sorry. I don't touch politics.
I think the same thing would happen if it were one of the favorites of Hollyweird or any person deemed famous. We hold our astronauts up on the pedestals and when they fall, it's big news. I can't attach a political agenda to it. I doubt that our president put her up to this.
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 10:28 PM
I agree with you, Barbara. The man in the center of all this has a crew that he was scheduled to launch with in the near future. He won't be going now, even if he is innocent of any wrong doing.
I just think that the whole situation is surreal. Laughter is a normal way of dealing with it. Much better than being angry. And, I feel we as a supporting society have every right to respond/react to this most unfortunate situation.
I love space exploration and the NASA program. I have a distant relative who worked for NASA for many years. This, hopefully, won't set anything back.
At least if we can learn anything, we learn that astronauts are human, too.
The story (as it exists thus far) is hard to wrap one's brain around.
Posted by: Monica | February 6, 2007 10:29 PM
Unfortunately Barbarah, my sweet dear friend, I usually don't ever speak politics or religion or sex or any other controversy. However, this has drawn my attention. I still think that this administration is putting the spotlight on this event. I have had some years of experience and observation of our current political process. Sorry to disagree. I excuse my seff from the front page.

I might also add, with what has been reported about this story so far, I'm really not all that certain her mission (in this instance) wasn't murder.
Even Rabbi's and Priest murder and molest. It really shouldn't be all that shocking that an astronaut could be evil, too.
It's just the first time that anything this shocking with NASA has played out via the media.

Actually, this really does not touch politics. This is about the honor of a wasted-looking woman who is a product of out space program. She is ravaged and needs help and what the hailp do we know about this? Nothing.
Posted by: Anonymous | February 6, 2007 10:38 PM
Based on the little bit that was released initially as to what she had with her, I think she was planning to kill that woman. She was insane! I don't know that that is a defense but she was crazy enough to plan the death of a woman that she saw as a rival. And she is not seperated or divorced. She's married!!!!
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 10:41 PM
Moi, I agree with you too, to a certain extent.
I watched CC today and they had on a former NASA employee. One of the things he said that rung true to me is that NASA has WAY TOO MANY astronauts in the program. Something like 100.
It has become way too competitive amongst them to be perfect in every aspect in order to be picked to launch.
Our government is footing payroll for 100 of them. Why, when we only launch 2 or 3 times a year (if that)?
Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
Posted by: Monica | February 6, 2007 10:42 PM
Christian and Gay! Rip those a new one too. I also laffed about the 900 mile trip with depends and the bee-bee gun and the knife and all the rest. However. The thing is that I beleive there is some kind of deception going on here. Cured of being gay is much more newsworthy. (hack up a hair-ball)
Posted by: moi | February 6, 2007 10:45 PM
This girl is not a threat to me or anyone else. She is being made a victim by ire very own govt who needs a sidebar and a distraction. Urp-slop, bring the mop.
Posted by: moi | February 6, 2007 10:49 PM
And NASA got a healthy increase today in their budget

Joe, I think you need a reminder about the real world or knot. Or maybe you would like to come into Barbara's surreal world.

Posted by: moi | February 6, 2007 10:52 PM
Hahaha, Moi. All I can say about that is there are plenty of Christians and Gays making the news for nefarious and good reasons.
Not many married astronauts in history wear depends and drive 900 miles to go murder a married woman who might or might not be having some sort of relationship with another astronaut.
This story is a poster child for media sensationalism.
The accused is clearly off her rocker if reporting is accurate.
Posted by: Monica | February 6, 2007 10:53 PM
She is not purpose-lee awf the rocker, honey, she has been drugged. Look at the difference in those photos betwixt the flight and the fright. I am outta heah! nytoll.
Posted by: moi | February 6, 2007 10:59 PM
hmmm. Interesting theory, Moi. Sounds like something from my conspiracy rabbit-hole.
Nothing would surprise me.
I just can't figure out the purpose of this.
I do believe there are drugged or mind-altered people out there doing crazy things. They have been mind altered by the CIA.
((black helicopter circling...ooops!!))
I am trying to stay under the radar, here.
Posted by: loretta | February 6, 2007 11:01 PM
And she has a Master's in Rocket Science. She's just not your "run-of-the-mill" hit woman. I feel bad for the victim but I would love to know where in the heck the nutty woman lost her bearings.

Maybe she's the one who did the Michelle Young hit. She had a hammer with her.
Posted by: Captain Joe | February 6, 2007 11:05 PM
Sorry Joe. I don't think that's too funny. I still like to have you around, but I can't joke about either situation. There's just too many people who have had crap dumped on their lives because of both situations.
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 11:12 PM
I take that back. I think I did joke about the astronaut until I watch the nightly news and heard them talk about her twin daughters and realized that there are people who are sitting in their homes tonight who are never going to be the same as a result of this. I decided that I couldn't joke about it anymore.
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 11:14 PM
Oh, there will be jokes. There will be bad puns. There may even be parody.
But, I'm not very inspired by this story. It's too pathetic.
Posted by: loretta | February 6, 2007 11:17 PM
And you know darned well that I will love you even if you joke about it. We don't HAVE to agree on everything. But you already knew that.
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 11:21 PM
Moi,
To me, she looks like she took several hits of no doze in order to drive 900 miles straight. If you put that on top of her diaper wearing to make it to FL in time for the victims flight, I'm sure those pics of her would match up.
I've driven 300 miles in one day (with potty breaks, no depends here). And, I was a haggard mess when I got home.
When I was 30, I drove for 15 hours alone, straight from TN to MI. It was brutal.
Now, if you put plotting murder and mental instability on top of that...
I don't think anyone did her in but her own self-perfectionism.
Please stay and play, though, Moi. Your opinions are valuable to me.
Posted by: Monica | February 6, 2007 11:21 PM
Barbara, you bring up a good point. The NASA situation is indeed a sad one. I would only point out that the MY murder could have been done by a rival female lover, not necessarily Jason. The NASA situation shows you what lengths a sick jealous lover will go to kill her rival. Jason might have had a similar girlfriend who would be willing, even unknowingly to Jason, to kill his wife.
Posted by: Anonymous | February 6, 2007 11:35 PM
You bring up a good poing, anonymous. Do I know you?
I'm still holding out that it was a hit.
Only because JY hasn't been arrested, yet. I'm not all that worried that he hasn't. He's involved one way or another, in my opinion.
Posted by: Monica | February 6, 2007 11:38 PM
All I ask on this front page of the blog is that we show some respect and some few moments of critical thinking as to any kind of drecht from the peeeUweey netwerks or any of those other blashpeme-sickos. Is that too much to ask? Listen to some music, digest it and spend time with your children before you post here. They keyword and operational digits would be critical thinking, awl over the place. Lettuce-spray.

There's still the issue of him sending his SIL over to the house on an errand that everyone agrees seems very suspicious. That's the one piece that keeps pulling me back to him.
Posted by: Barbara | February 6, 2007 11:41 PM
That could be coincidental, Barbara. But, the would be one heck of a coincidence and he would be one very unfortunate B'turd, if that's the case.
My biggest problem with JY is that he hasn't cooperated with police. His wife's murder was brutal.
Even if I didn't like my neighbor and they were murdered in the manner that MY was, I would tell police every thing I know to help.
But, we are talking about the same thing we were almost three months ago.
I'm ready for a break in the case.

Apologies for my typos, I'm multitasking and IMing with my daughter at the same time. My bad.

Good morning, all. I am not going to give much time or attention to this astro-nut deal. Even if it's a Manchurian Candidate event, what can we do?
After almost a year of burrowing down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories and illuminati nightmares, I did learn a few important things.
1. Things are often NOT what they appear to be. But, every now and then, they are exactly what they appear to be. Hard to tell the difference.
2. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.
3. There are more things in heaven and earth than are drempt of in my philosophy.
4. It's good to know what's going on to some extent, but there's not much more you can do about it except be AWARE. Awareness is very powerful. I believe there is more and more of it.
5. Relax. Have fun. Live for today. It's just not worth getting all fired up about all the time. Your will power and belief will not change it. The only thing your desire and belief will change is YOU.
I got sucked into that swirling whirlpool and all I can say - take a break.
Posted by: loretta | February 7, 2007 08:00 AM
Oh, and speaking of sucking whirlpools of garbage...apparently a few seriously disturbed individuals have continued to wage their ridiculous and ineffective campaign to defame and harass me. Their most recent accusations are so specious and unsubstantiated, I'm not even sure what they are.
I believe there are a few sad souls who are still so fixated with me and have such vacuous lives of their own, they persist in this nonsense.
Well, just a few words and then I will speak no more of it.
First, my little puppies, I have nothing to do with any blogs about anyone. This and our private blog are the only venues on which I post. As far as my surfing habits, if I happen upon your site, I guess that's what you have it for, right?
Anne and I are two separate people, and neither one of us has any interest, whatsoever, in any of you. Any accusations to the contrary are delusory.
I am having a wonderful life. I suggest you do the same. The only reason you continue to rain on my parade is because you don't have one of your own.
Get yer own damn parade.
Retzy over and out.
Posted by: loretta | February 7, 2007 08:06 AM
Coming ahead, even before fulling catching up, to agree with you (duh). I have much more important things going on my live and filling my heart, mind and time, as well.
Those people are far behind the truth. I don't even know what blog they are talking about. They probably have empty lives and I pity them.
As for my surfing and internet habits, I do keep an eye on them, as they keep mentioning my name and accusing me of a number of nonsense things (like spending 24 hours on their empty board). I think they can't survive w/o talking about you (and me by proxy).
I have this terrible habit of leaving lots of windows/tabs sessions opened and going forward/backward to the websites I need to go. Sometimes I may pass by their rabbithole inadvertidly. I will take more care. I know they want me to come, despite saying to the contrary, but, hey, they could be at least a little bit more educated, they are gross people.
Posted by: Anne | February 7, 2007 09:48 AM
And funnier, they still can't decide if I exist or don't. When one of them say lines like "proper authorities" or "legal action", are they referring to Loretta's double personality or am I a real part in this?
Anne over and out.

Anne in for real life and more important things.
Yesterday was Baby A first Birthday Party. I am totally a proud mamma. Tired too. Did everything by my own.
I will later post details on the kitchen and update his Blog.
On a scarier note, I heard a violent robbery that took place just a couple of houses from mine. The robber took the guy's car, not before physically beating him with the gun after the guy tried to react to the robbery. The guy was bringing his mother home (the mother lives a couple of houses from mine).
My house has a safety guardhouse and safety guard, who saw the thing from certain distance and called the police, but was too late (meaning the police arrived after the robbers/bandits already left). The guy is fine, with some bruises, and I am scared to death. I heard everything because I was closing the windows at the second floor by that exact same time (usually I can't hear a thing that happens at the street). It was late at night, around half past midnight, but some of the Baby A Party guests stayed later and we ended ordering pizza and bla, bla, bla till midnight.

Wow, Anne, that is skeery stuff. I'm glad your neighbor's son will be okay.
And a great big happy B-DAY to baby A. He's just beautiful and I want to thank you for sharing his first year in photos with us. He is absolutely thriving and is blessed to have you and his proud Pappa as his parents.
Can't wait to hear about the party you threw for him.

Happy Birthday to sweet Baby A! He is an adorable little boy, and as Monica said, blessed to have you as parents.
Glad your home is secure, Anne. That must have been so frightening.

Anne, I hope the attacker gets caught, in the incident with your neighbour. They are pretty tough on that type of crime in Brazil, aren't they?

Wade Steffey is still missing, btw.
Nobody has found him. Look in the river....
